Get Vocal is a choral initiative by Wicklow County Arts Office, which engages older people throughout the county in singing.

Each year four sectional rehearsals take place over a four-month period in Laragh, Greystones, Baltinglass and Tinahely, all of the groups come together for final rehearsals and a performance in June.

In operation since 2010, the choir have performed at the Mermaid Theatre, as part of Night of a Thousand Voices for Wicklow Arts Festival, at Killruddery House, and at the National Convention Centre as part of the Rain Falling Up performance under conductor Fergus Sheil and with the National Symphony Orchestra.

Get Vocal is designed to be fun and accessible maximising the other benefits known to be derived from singing such as breathing, posture, stress relief physical activity and energy.

This year's performance by the 60-strong choir will feature songs from around the world and solos by tenor Anthony Norton.

Tickets are €8 and available from Mermaid Arts Centre on (01) 2724030.
