Bray resident Graeme Carter and his Four Peaks team 'Ain't Novartis High Enough' will join 300 adventurers next weekend to take on the annual Focus Ireland Four Peaks Challenge and help raise €250,000.

Graeme Carter, Noel Larkin, Sean Brosnan, Pól O Cathail and Adrian O'Donnell will climb the highest peak in each of the four provinces this month in a bid to raise €3,700.

Almost €3.5 million has been raised over the past 12 years, making the Four Peaks challenge one of Focus Ireland's most vital fundraising events.

'I recently became a father, and the thought of trying to keep my daughter safe, warm and fed without a roof over our heads is terrifying. It's a very personal reason to partake in this challenge, and I do hope we can help to keep this from happening to families in Ireland. After all, if it happened to me, I'd be looking for help from Focus,' said Graeme.

'The money raised makes a huge difference as it helps to support people who are homeless and many more at risk of homelessness. Focus Ireland spend 90 cent of every euro received directly on vital lifeline services, so the money raised by all the teams involved will help many people who are homeless to move on in life.'

The adventure – which is sponsored by 100-102 Today FM – takes place over 48 hours this month, when participants strive to climb the highest mountains in each of the four provinces – Carrauntoohil in Kerry, followed by Mweelrea in Mayo, Slieve Donard in Down and finally Lugnaquillia in Wicklow. The brave team has been training hard in preparation for the impressive climbs while also trying to raise vital funds for the charity.

Locals can also log onto www.focusireland.ie to support the brave climbers.

They can click 'Four Peaks Challenge' and search for 'Ain't Novartis High Enough' under 'Sponsor a Friend.'

Alternatively they can call the Focus Ireland Fundraising team on 01-8815900 to make a donation. The money raised will help to go towards supporting those currently homeless, or at risk of homelessness.
