Druids Glen start churning out their own chutney

With apple-picking season upon us, the five-star Druids Glen Resort in Newtownmountkennedy has introduced its own signature chutney produced from extensive orchards on the hotel's grounds, nestled in the scenic Wicklow mountains.

Druids Glen has a unique recipe to make the most of its locally grown, in-season organic apples which go beautifully with cheese, pâtés or cold meats. The chutney consists of Druids Glen organic apples, tomato paste, sugar, bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, chili, black sesame seeds, dry roasted onion, powdered fennel seeds, powdered cumin seeds, powdered mustard seeds and vinegar.

Speaking about the hotel's signature chutney Head Chef at Druids Glen, Dheeraj Ramgoolam, said: 'We have an extended orchard on the grounds of Druids Glen with an abundance of apples which not only add to the beautiful landscape but also taste delicious. The staff get together at this time every year to pick the apples which are then made into mouth-watering jars of chutney for the hotel's brasserie.'

Druids Glen Resort regularly sources local products from the surrounding Wicklow area and its new winter menu incorporates seasonal specialties showcasing the flavours and the produce of the region.
