DECISION-MAKERS from some of the top business tourism companies in the US enjoyed a visit to Co Wicklow earlier this week, as guests of Tourism Ireland and leading Irish destination management company, Moloney & Kelly Travel.

The group - which included senior representatives of companies involved in the MICE (meetings, incentive, conferences and events) industry, who organise international conferences, meetings and largescale incentive events around the world - was here to discover more about the meeting facilities and accommodation on offer in Wicklow and Ireland, as well as the great experiences business delegates can enjoy here on the sidelines of their conference or meeting. It was also a fantastic opportunity for Tourism Ireland to highlight ' The Gathering Ireland 2013' to these top-level decision-makers from the American business tourism sector. During their time here, the group visited Powerscourt House and Gardens and enjoyed some time in the Avoca store there. Their itinerary also included lunch and a site inspection at The Ritz- Carlton near Enniskerry.

Joe Byrne, Tourism Ireland's Executive Vice President United States and Canada, said 'we are delighted that so many of these leading business tourism decision-makers have taken the time to come to Wicklow this week, to experience the superb facilities on offer in this part of Ireland at firsthand. Business tourism is an important, high yield sector and Tourism Ireland is working hard to promote Wicklow and the island of Ireland as a premier business tourism destination.
