The library services or lack thereof came under fire at last Friday's AGM of Wicklow County Council.
Cllr. Joe Behan said the library service had been 'an easy target' for cuts over the previous couple of budgets and said 'at a time of recession the library service is key for people who are unemployed to look for jobs.
He was supported by Cllr. Miriam Murphy who said it was a vital service for the community. Cllr. John Ryan said huge strides had been made within the library services in recent years pointing out that a new library is currently being constructed in Arklow.
