Una Whelan and Arthur Fitzharris of Bray Rotary tie tags for gifts that are needed more than ever this Christmas at the Rotary Christmas Giving Tree outside the Holy Redeemer on the Main Street.

A GENEROUS donor has ensured that three needy families will eat like kings this Christmas, with a gift of €600 to be divided between them.

Una Whelan of Bray's Rotary Club explained that the local man came along with his children to their 'giving tree' at the Holy Redemmer last weekend.

'He took a label from the tree and asked some questions about the initiative,' said Una. He returned with €600 asking that it be given to the St. Vincent de Paul in Bray to be given to three families for food for Christmas.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, also donated a bike to the giving tree worth €250.

'I was reduced to tears,' said Una, adding that people in general have been very generous with their gifts this year. ' The giving tree has become a part of the year in Bray,' she said.

The tree will be there on the Main Street next weekend also, with presents to be bought for children and elderly people in the area.

'Come along, take a gift tag and buy a present, return it to us and we will do the rest - we will wrap it and deliver it to one of the charities,' said Una.
