Belinda Brummer heads for New State

Belinda off to world's newest state

Belinda Brummer from Bray departs at the end of January on a Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) Ireland placement to the world's newest state South Sudan.

This new country came into existence in 2011 following an independence referendum.

Originally from South Africa, Belinda who moved to Ireland over 10 years ago will start work as a Human Resources Management Advisor at the Yei Teacher Training College in south west Sudan.

Belinda's work is about supporting the best possible teacher training education programmes so that when they start work in schools, the local teachers will provide children with high quality education

Belinda wants to thank all of her friends who supported her recent fundraising walk for VSO Ireland. They walked for over 14.5km along the Wicklow coast and raised nearly €700.

The row over purchase of lands rumbles on

The row over the purchase of lands at Three Trouts looks set to rumble on as one of the councillors at the centre of the report said they are seeking legal advice on the matter. The report which was published last week was commissioned by Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan, following representations by Cllrs. Jimmy O'Shaughnessy, Tommy Cullen and Barry Nevin about their concerns surrounding the €3million purchase of lands at Three Trouts in Charlesland by Wicklow County Council.
