THE people of Greystones supported their local Tidy Towns group recently with a fun day out in the sun at Burnaby Park.

The fundraising day was held by the Tidy Towns group to raise money to support their work.

Spokeswoman Marie McCooey explained that they need to have an annual budget to support works such as landscaping or buying equipment.

'We are so grateful to everyone who came along or helped in any way,' she said. 'Without all of them it would not have been possible.'

She said that everyone was extremely generous, whether with their time, donations of equipment, performances, and much more.

Marie agreed that while some people cannot spare the time to be involved with Tidy Towns throughout the year, they fully support its work and are glad to help when they can.

The day included bouncy castles, jenga, play areas for toddlers, bungee trampolining, a barbecue, live music and more.

Everyone had great fun, both visitors and organisers alike.

'We were overwhelmed with the amount of people who came on the day,' said Marie.

She added that it was the first year of the climbing wall, which she even had a go at herself!
