32 items up for discussion at AGM
There will be not one but two meetings of Wicklow County Council on Friday.
The Annual General Meeting will take place at 2 p.m. with a whopping 32 items on the agenda.
However, the matters are all related to the procedures of the new-look council. The main items on the agenda are the election of the cathaoirleach and leas cathaoirleach (chairperson and vice chairperson), appointments to strategic policy committees, corporate policy groups and other bodies.
There are four strategic policy committees (SPCs) – economic development and enterprise (which will include the work previously carried out by the planning and economic SPC); community, cultural and social development; housing and corporate estate and transportation, water and environmental services (which will incorporate the work previously carried out both the Transportation and Roads infrastructure SPC and the Water and Environmental Services SPC).
There will also be appointments to the joint policing committee, the Southern and Eastern Regional Assembly; the Regional Health Forum, the Local Authority Members Association, Wicklow County Tourism, the Committee for the Proposed Special Amenity Area order for Bray Head, Wicklow Uplands Council, Irish Public Bodies Mutual Insurance Ltd, Local Traveller Accommodation Consultative committee, Rural Water Programme committee, Wicklow Local Sports Partnership, the Meath Foundation, Mermaid Arts Centre, Protocol Committee, Ballynagran Community Liaison Committee, Association of Irish Local Government, Local Community Development Committee, the Board of Wicklow Enterprise Park, Bray Purple Flag Committee, Bray Local Drugs Taskforce, Bray Swimming Pool committee, Bray Tourism and the Greystones/Bray Cliff Walk management plan sub-committee. Other items on the agenda include the schedule of meetings for the coming year; to determine the procedure for the opening of tenders, to determine the procedure for affixing of seal on documents; to set the date and time for meetings of the municipal districts of Blessington, Bray, Arklow, Greystones and Wicklow, which need to be held on or before June 16; and to fix a date for the induction training day for members.
This AGM of the council will be followed by a special meeting with one sole item on the agenda. This special meeting is being held to consider a report under the Planning and Development Act.
The report is into an application to Wicklow County Council by Wicklow County Council for the demolition of an existing derelict building and the construction of a new bungalow, site entrance and associated site works including a waste water treatment system and a bored well at Knockraheen. The new bungalow will be a specially adapted building for existing tenants of Wicklow County Council.
