Leaders of Connect-Bray Neighbourhood Youth Project, and the family of the late Keelan O'Connor, have raised €1,541 for the Meningitis Research Foundation.

They took part in a charity bucket collection for the cause recently, at SuperValu in Bray.

A spokesperson for the foundation said that they are extremely grateful for the fantastic donation.

15-year-old Keelan from Fassaroe sadly passed away from meningitis in September 2015.

Since then his friends and family have been actively involved with fundraising for Meningitis Research Foundation and raising awareness of this dreadful disease. All of the money raised will go towards the charity's awareness and support activities.

For further information about the charity's work or to get familiar with the symptoms of meningitis go to meningitis.org.
