THERE WAS a great turnout in Greystones on New Year's Day for the Team Gavin Glynn swim in aid of Greystones Cancer Support.
Greystones boy Gavin has Rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancerous tumour of the muscles that attaches itself to the bones.
Last year ' Team Gavin Glynn' braved the cold weather and had a quick run and dip in the sea to raise funds for St. Johns Ward at Crumlin Hospital.
This year their support was a bit closer to home. 'We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, and GCS has been an amazing support to our family since Gavin's diagnosis,' said his dad John. ' This year we would like to try help GCS and other local families that may need help.'
Greystones Fire Brigade came along on the day, and everyone enjoyed soup and sandwiches provided by the Beach House.
They haven't yet got a total amount raised by the fundraising drive as funds are still coming in.
