STUART Brierton from Bray has jetted off to Austria in preparation for the Special Olympics World Winter Games, which take place in South Korea next month.

Stuart is one of a team of six athletes selected to represent Team Ireland in Alpine skiing events in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from January 29 to February 6.

As part of their preparations for the snow-capped slopes of South Korea, they have travelled to Murau in Austria with their coaches to take part in a week-long intensive training programme on real snow at the Special Olympics Snow Camp.

Here they will fine-tune their skills on snow across three disciplines - Super G, Slalom and Giant Slalom - and prepare to compete against other athletes from around the world.
