The boys of St Cronan's held their inaugural walkathon recently to raise money for the school.

The event was organised by the parents association and they raised a fantastic €5,000 in sponsorship on the day.

The boys walked from the school to the bandstand and back for the event.

It was a wonderful family event, with parents, siblings and extended family all along to help support the children and their school.

The sun shone on the day and the boys and their supporters all got a healthy snack of water and fruit at the bandstand.

There was also music which created a great atmosphere.

The Parents Association hope to make this an annual event, highlighting the importance for exercise and healthy eating.

There was a raffle on the day, with prizes including passes to Squirrel Scramble, Lifestyle vouchers, entry to Bray Bowl and Shoreline, and a voucher for Box Burger.

Everyone involved enjoyed the day, even the giant banana leading the charge in front of all the walkers.

Volunteers came forward to help the Parents Association on the day, and their efforts were greatly appreciated.

Boys from each class in St Cronan's took part in the walk. They were all very well behaved, and a credit to their school and parents.
