Well done to the county Senior Hurlers who defeated New Ross 5-12 to 2-6 on Wednesday last and will now meet Ballyhale in the Leinster C Final. Coláiste Chill Mhantáin retain the title in the South Leinster C1 Senior Hurling after a tough encounter with Kilmuckridge which finished 4-12 to 1-5.
The team had to battle hard against a determined and physical side in the first half and the score at half time was 1-2 to 1-6 in favour of the Wicklow side, thanks to the skill of Aaron Nugent and Daniel Staunton. Thereafter Coláiste Chill Mhantáin asserted their dominance with great scores from Stephen Cruise (3-2), and great battling shown by Ryan Devlin and Jack Montgomery, while Sean O'Callaghan, brothers Neil and Dean O'Gorman, and James Manley gave great displays in defence. The trophy was presented to Captain Aaron Nugent by Mr. Jim Murphy of the Post Primary Schools GAA. PERCUSSION WORKSHOPS
Our First Year Junior Certificate Schools Programme (JCSP) students were involved with two percussion workshops on Wednesday last. The workshops were carried out by Artscope, who specialise in introducing school students to all aspects of the performing arts. The workshops included the use of drums, bongos cow bells and other assorted percussion instruments. The event was organised in acknowledgement of achievements since the beginning of term. ROTARY YOUNG CHEF COMPETITION
On Friday November 30th Coláiste Chill Mhantáin hosted the Wicklow Final of the Rotary Young Chef Competition 2012/13. Louise Healy represented the school. Louise's level of skill and preparation were to the highest standard and she has certainly did the school proud. The judges were truly impressed by the culinary delights produced by each contestant.
We would like to congratulate the winners of the competition which were as follows: first place Louise Healy (Coláiste Chill Mhantáin), second place John Breen (Avondale CC) and third place Sara Hudson (East Glendalough School).
Well done to all the contestants involved in the competition. Finally we would like to take this opportunity to extend a special thank you to Wicklow Rotary Club for organising this event each year which allows students to both display and develop their culinary skills. Young Dragons Two of our Transition Year students, Cormac Marnane and Thomas McKeown participated in the Regional Finals for the Junior Dragons Den on Friday November 23rd. The students pitched their idea on the Irish educational card game they have designed in a very clear, concise and confident manner to the judges. Although the students do not progress to the national finals they learned a lot from the experience and can be very proud of their efforts. IRISH MOCK ORAL EXAMINATIONS
