'Fireman Barry' came to speak to the girls fire safety in the home. He made the journey to Bray from his station in Tallaght as he is an uncle to two of the brownies Sienna and Leonie Guilfoyle.

It was an extremely useful and informative talk for the children, who gave Barry a very warm welcome on the evening.

Belmont Brownies meet every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7.15 p.m. at the Parochial Hall on the Novara Road and is for girls aged six to 10. Brownies are, of course, a part of the Girl Guides network.

To find out more or get involved contact Belmont Brownies on (086) 7759676 or Girl Guides Area Commissioner Betty Prenter on (087) 6860260.
