YOUNG people at Youthreach in Bray have been passing their experience on to an older generation.

About a dozen older people have gone along to Youthreach every week to learn how to get more out of technology.

They bring their mobile phones, tablets and laptops along to learn from the students how to use them.

It's a six-week course which Youthreach has run before and will run again. Every week the older person is assigned the same tutor and they have a cup of tea and a chat as well as learning something new.

'Everyone involved is benefiting,' said a spokesperson for Youthreach who said that the younger people are learning how to communicate well with people of another generation.

The scheme was coordinated by Ashford man Fintan Mulligan and his 'Digital 121' project.

Fintan set up 'Digital 121', with no financial backing, on a voluntary basis to address the needs of the elderly.

The scheme engages students to teach the elderly to use their devices under the guidance of a mentor.
