Three Wicklow TDs met with a delegation from Wicklow Comhairle na nOg last week to discuss youth issues in Leinster House.
The Comhairle na nÓg delegation consisted of Rebecca Lyons, Rachel Griffey, Emily Dellow, Aoibhinn Gallagher and Clara Brannigan who met with Wicklow Deputies Anne Ferris, Stephen Donnelly and Andrew Doyle.
After the meeting, Deputy Doyle said: 'I was delighted to organise a meeting for a delegation to come and meet with some Wicklow TDs to highlight their concerns.
'We discussed many issues affecting young people in Wicklow at present includingthe lack of affordable counselling services in the area, inconsistent and inadequate sex education programmes and issues pertaining for facilities for young people in more rural parts of the county. I look forward to further meetings that will take place later in the year.'
Deputy Donnelly said: 'It was a pleasure to meet the Comhairle na n-Og representatives. Their presentations were second to none - concise, evidence-based, and practical - something we could do a lot more with in the Dail. We discussed a wide range of important issues and asked the group to put a report together and meet us again before Budget 2014.'
