WICKLOW looks set to receive a new speech and language therapist according to Deputy Simon Harris.
Deputy Harris posed a Parliamentary Question in the Dáil about the need to fill a vacant speech and language therapy post in the Wicklow health service.
Deputy Harris said he has been informed by the Minister for Health and the HSE that sanction has now been given to recruit a new speech and language therapist.
'I welcome the news that this vital speech and language therapy post will now be filled and that the recruitment process will commence.
'Access to speech and language therapy at a young age can be life-changing for children in need of such intervention. We need to see efforts re-doubled to ensure that adequate staffing levels are provided to ensure that children can access such early intervention services. I want to pay tribute to the great work being carried out by the Early Intervention Team in Wicklow.'
