IT has been over a year since local man Jeff Conroy began to lead the people of Delgany and Greystones in running for health, fitness and fun.

Delgany Running & Fitness Club celebrated its first year, with short run for members last Friday.

In its inaugural year the club has featured on Operation Transformation, and the G10K event has sprang from its popularity.

Jeff appeared on Operation Transformation talking about the club, and how running has helped him defeat mental illness.

When he discovered the wonderful effects of physical exercise on mental as well as physical health, he invited local people to join him and now the joggers get out in the fresh air in Delgany every week.

The club is free of charge and there are more than 110 members involved for weekly sessions of non-competitive running and fitness.

Meanwhile, members are looking forward to running the Waterford Half Marathon on December 1 in aid of Team Gavin Glynn and Leanbh Mo Chroi.

Runners meet at Shoreline in Greystones at 7.50 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays.
