29 year old Gemma who works as a customer service manager for an agricultural dealership is looking forward to spending Christmas surrounded by family and friends.

The daughter of Sue and Brian Gemma spent last Christmas in Australia so this year's festivities are even more special.

'I was home for four days earlier this year for a friend's wedding but before that it was September 2012 so I am delighted to be back home. When I went to Australia I originally moved to Sydney and was there for two months and only got two days work so I moved to Perth.

'Within 24 hours of moving there I got a job and now I am customer service manager with an agri dealership.

'Arriving back home was fantastic, there were tears from my mum and my dad was really excited too. It's great to be home and I'm home now for three weeks. The short four day visit was so exhausting and it took ages to get over the jet lag so you need a good holiday at home to make it worth it.'

Gemma is no doubt looking forward to her traditional Christmas dinner with Christmas in Australia being decidedly different from the Irish celebrations.

'It is different over there. It's good fun but they don't put the same emphasis on it. There are no carols or things like that. The meals are obviously different too because you don't want a big roast turkey in 40 degree heat but it's still very family orientated.'

After being used to sunnier climes Gemma said she's finding the bracing cold here 'freezing' as it was 46 degrees when she left Perth but it's a small price to pay to see family and friends this Christmas.
