Local students from Bray were awarded certificates recently for their participation in an innovative English language project run by Bray Area Partnership called Fáilte Isteach.

The project has been running for more than three years and the idea is that people from the local community volunteer their time to teach practical conversational English to people from other countries who live and work in Bray.

Classes are entirely free and take place in an informal, friendly café style setting through small group conversations over a cup of tea.

Fáilte Isteach has been a huge success to date, with learners and tutors alike really enjoying the experience. The benefits for the participants have been many - from the more obvious development of English language and teaching skills to the friendships forged between neighbours from a range of different backgrounds and cultures.

Bray Fáilte Isteach is part of a national initiative, with projects run all around the country. Classes take place every Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in term time at St. Peter's Church Parish Centre in Little Bray.
