Published 31/07/2013 | 10:03

Young people got to flex their creative muscles at Mermaid Arts Centre last week for a summer camp with a difference.

Junior Songschool was on at the theatre all last week. Boys and girls aged eight to 12 got to create songs, explore soundscapes and invent soundtracks.

There were musicians and singers alike taking part in the workshops and the week finished with a fantastic showcase concert for friends and family. The team put the young music lovers through their paces in music making, songwriting, recording, performing and more.

It was a very enjoyable and rewarding week for the participants, who relished getting to write, record and perform their own music.
