ANNE Devlin CCE and Aughrim Village are gearing up to host the County Fleadh Cheoil this Saturday, May 10. Aughrim has a long tradition with Irish music, with Anne Devlin CCE more than 50 years in existence.
Participants from all over county Wicklow will gather in the Sacred Heart National school from 10.30a.m., all hoping for the chance to represent their county at the Leinster stage of the competition in July.
There will be an outdoor music and dancing session at the 1798 Monument on the main street following the Fleadh, kicking off at 5.30p.m. Traditional music, set dancing, sean nos dancing and singing will all be on offer for spectators and participants alike. If weather conditions do not suit the outdoors this will take place in the parish hall.
All musicians, dancers and singers are invited to take part, where the sounds of the Michael Dwyer Pipe Band and local group Black Knot will echo off of the surrounding hills of Aughrim.
