Musical youth in line for craft zone awards

YOUTHS from various parts of Wicklow travelled to Dublin this week to contest in the Craft Zone Songs From The Youth music awards

The awards show, which is sponsored by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) is part of a series of songwriting workshops designed to use music as a means to inspire and empower the marginalised youths.

Wicklow Town Youthreach's song ' Were Going Through Changes' has been nominated in two categories, Best Vocal Duet and Best Rap.

Arklow Youthreach have been nominated in the Best Vocal Duet for ' Tomorrow Land' and West Wicklow Youthreach are nominated in the Best Male Singer, Best Female Singer and Best Song categories for 'Meant to Shine.'

Tinahely National School also received a nomination for Best Junior Category for their song 'Past Meets Present.'

All the nominated songs were written and recorded by youths with no previous singing-songwriting experience.

Each entry is also available on Youtube for any would-be fans out there.

The ' Grammy' style music awards will see all the guests treated to a visual feast for the senses and live music from the emerging electro pop outfit, Miracle Bell, Kasey Smith (formerly of Louis Walsh's Wonderland) and others.
