Mickey Finns' Pub & Restaurant in Redcross opened its new adults-only bistro on Wednesday, June 19.
Cllr. Tom Fortune, Chairman of Wicklow County Tourism, opened the new restaurant with a ribbon-cutting followed by a champagne reception and food sampling.
The new bistro was built in the old collier shop and retains much of its rustic feel, with stone walls and wooden beams abounding.
Originally set aside for kids' club activities, staff decided the room was not being used to its full potential, particularly during winter, and so began its redevelopment into a bistro.
'It was a gorgeous restaurant venue that wasn't being utilised during the winter months,' said Leidh Williams of Mickey Finn's Pub & Restaurant. 'It had all the character of the old shop without having to do much too it.
The bistro is serviced by a brand new kitchen and offers an À la carte menu as opposed to the more conventional pub cuisine served up by the existing restaurant, affording parents the opportunity to indulge themselves as children play in the nearby kids' club.
