THERE were animals, princesses, magical creatures, wizards and puppets at school in Ravenswell instead of children last Friday.

It was World Book Day and everyone who goes to St. Philomena's got to dress up as one of their favourite characters from a book.

Red Riding Hoods roamed the corridors, along with a few Cats in Hats, Dorothies, pirates and even Mr. Twit.

The school organises the special day to encourage reading amongst the pupils and bring their books to life.

Some teachers got in to the spirit of it and dressed up as their own favourite characters.

The main objective for World Book Day is to have fun and enjoy reading and sharing books together by providing them with a book of their own, while incorporating reading and writing challenges.
