WESTERNS bounced back from their Championship exit to maintain their push for a top four spot in Division 3 with their seventh win in a row against the might of the local rivals Sean McDermotts.

Less than one minute into the game and Tommy Durnin scored a goal! What a fantastic start. The home side were stunned but didn't drop their heads.

A fine run by the home side into the Westerns end and a foul inside the box awarded Sean McDermotts a penalty. A solid kick and the game was tied at one goal apiece. Sean McDermotts continued the pressure with one more point before Tommy Durnin could reply with a brace himself.

The Westerns were spurred on and had a further two goal chances denied. Finally, Ciaran Scriven, Terry Sweeney and Ryan Duffy all managed good scores from play to edge out in front. Sean McDermotts replied with another point to ensure the Westerns would not sail into the sunset.

The Westerns led the home side 2-6 to 1-4 at halftime.
