Young Blues graduate
THE Glenmuir Soccer Academy has finished for the season after hosting one final training session on Saturday.
The ever-popular academy had over 40 registered players (under 6/7 age groups) this year and most of them were presented with their Glenmuir FC Academy medals and a great day was had by all.
The Glenmuir Academy runs from March through to November taking a break for Christmas. The Academy is an introduction to kids as young as 5 years old to the game of soccer and Glenmuir coaches teach the players the basic skills needed to play the game in an environment that is fun.
Next summer, players born in 2005 (U8s) and 2004 (U9s) will once again play in the DSL mini sevens which is very enjoyable. These players will play a small sided game where the emphasis is on taking part and having fun. These age groups get ample football and it is a great introduction for our young players and their families for preparation for competitive 11 a-side football on a full sized pitch from U-12 upwards.
The club would like to express its thanks to the academy coaches and coordinators Ciarán Caldwell, Gary Rogers and Joe Weir for giving the kids great coaching all year round.
The Academy is open to all Boys and Girls aged 5-7 years old and will be recommencing in March 2013 every Saturday from 11am -12 pm at Glenmuir Park.
Registration forms are available from coaches and on registration new members receive official Glenmuir Academy gear (shorts, socks and top).
'At Glenmuir FC we place huge importance on our community work and the soccer academy is a major part of that. Children are the future of the club both on and off the field, and we have seen firsthand what great work Football in the Community does and how much fun the kids have at the Glenmuir FC Academy.'
There will be a registration day in March 2013, where new members can join and pay the registration fee and fill out the formsbefore receiving their academy gear.
