PLAYERS, coaches, parents and friends gathered in the Lisdoo on Sunday evening as Glenmuir Utd concluded a successful season with their end of season awards.
Peter Kierans was honoured for his committment to the club when he picked up the prestigious overall Clubman of the Year award. A dedicated member of the club, Peter not only co-manages the club's under-16 side but helps in fundraising and many other aspects of the club.
Making the presentations to the players of the year and clubmen of the year at each year, was Dundalk manager, Stephen Kenny who was warmly welcomed by Mark Shiels who acted as the evening's MC.
The Dundalk manager was grateful for the warm welcome and advised that players that they won't improve their skills on their playstations and that the best players at under 16 and 17 who may catch his eye weren't necssarily the best players at under 10, 11 or 12, pointing that one of his former players, Sunderland's and Republic of Ireland's James McClean was a late developer.
Also speaking on the night was Dundalk Schoolboys League Chairman, Gerry Gover who complimented the club on another successful season and paid tribute to the managers and coaches who gave their time voluntarily.
Club Chairman, Vincie Duffy thanked the managers and coaches and players and football secretary Mark Shiels and he made a presentation of a club tracksuit to club sponsor Niall Clarke from Clarke Oils and the Topaz garage on the Dublin Road.
