GER McSorley led the demolition of the third division underdogs Rathkenny at Sandy Lane on Friday night in the Tully Bookmakers Cup.

Rock had suffered at the hands of a lower division team last season, with giantkillers Kingscourt Harps knocking them out of competition at an early stage, and then went on to reach the final only to be beaten by Duleek.

There was never a whiff of a repeat upset in this tie, with winger McSorley primarily responsible for putting the visitors in their place, notching up four goals, the highest haul that he has managed for the Seasiders in any one match.

Hr was closely followed by David Ward who grabbed a hat-trick, while Derek Delany completed the tally.

Rock's place in the next round was all sewn up at the break, with the score standing at five-nil.

They eased up somewhat in the second-half, but they could easily have run up double figures missing a string of clear -cut opportunities.

Team: John Rogers, Mark McGeown, Paddy Reilly, Aidan Sheekey (David McGeough), Cormac McArdle, Kevin McArdle (Conor McDonnell), Michael Osobe,Ger McSorley, Paddy Quinn, David Ward, Derek Delany (Ciaran Clarke).
