DUNDALK girl Kate O'Connor has had a magnificent summer of success in athletics.
It started at the Leinster Juvenile Championships in June where she won three U-14 gold medals and recorded three new championship records in the long jump, the javelin and the 800m. The previous 800m record has stood since 1988.
In the All-Ireland Finals in Tullamore she again had a fantastic weekend coming 2nd in the long jump with a leap of 5.13m. She retained her All-Ireland title in the Javelin with a throw of 32.21m. In the 800m she ran an impressive time of 2.18.05 to take a second All Ireland title of the weekend.
