Johann Strauss gets off the mark after maiden victory

ockey Joseph O’Brien (right) guided his father Aiden’s Johann Strauss to victory in the Dundalk Racecourse of the Year Maiden.

JOHANN Strauss got off the mark at the sixth time of asking on Friday evening as he took the opener at Dundalk, the Dundalk Racecourse Of The Year Maiden, scoring under Joseph O'Brien for his father Aidan.

Elsewhere on the card, Relentless Pursuit landed a gamble as he made all to win the Handicap under Colin Keane for Ger Lyons, while Six Silver Lane justified favouritism as he won the Follow Us On Twitter Handicap under Fran Berry for Johnny Feane.

Westpieser picked up her first win at her seventh attempt as she took the Crowe Plaza Race & Stay Median Auction (Fillies) Maiden, scoring under Shane Foley for Mick Halford.

He's Our Music recorded his third career success, all of which have come at Dundalk, as he took the Champions Restaurant Dundalk Rated Race, scoring under Danny Grant for Pat Flynn, while Melanippe ran out a very easy winner of the last at Dundalk, the Marshes Shopping Centre Ladies Day Saturday 12th July Handicap, scoring under Chris Hayes for Paul Deegan.
