LIKE many, I over-indulged over the festive period. Detox is the buzz word in every health store.
We want the 'best of the best' detox solution to make our bodies feel like our own again.
We did what we said we weren't going to do: ' no I'm not making a pig of myself, remember last year'! But we did anyway.... My advice is simple. Really load your plate with dark leafy greens. Get to your veg shop and stock up. I'd go easy on the miracle potions because they can hit your pocket pretty bad.
Juicing is a great way to get the goodness in. Start the day off with a juice. I would recommend 80/20 towards green veg. Fruit is good but not in huge quantities.
The surge of energy you will receive throughout the morning will lift your spirits. Kale (below) is a great veg, which I put in my juice.
Like broccoli it is a member of the brassiaca family and can be bought in town. It's a powerhouse leafy green and one I consume on a daily basis, it is also thought to have anti cancer properties. I also love kale chips.
Just chop up some leafy kale. Splash some lemon juice, olive oil and, if you can stand a bit of heat, dash on some cayenne pepper (but go easy). Then put the kale on an oven tray and place in a preheated oven. Keep an eye that they don't burn.
Happy New Year!
