Easter holidays normally bring a well-earned rest for teachers but not for talented Dun Lughaidh Secondary School staff member, Deirdre Smith.
Golfer Deirdre represented Leinster in the Interprovincials over Easter and won three-and-a-half points out of a possible five in Tramore Golf Club, which contributed to an overall win for Leinster. This was Deirdre's 15th year to represent Leinster and her nineth Interpro victory. Deirdre is a past Irish Champion and has represented Ireland on numerous occasions being part of a winning Home International team in 2004 when she captained the side.
A Dun Lughaidh spokesperson said: 'We are very proud to have Deirdre as a member of our staff and to cap the Easter holiday off Deirdre won the prestigious Vaughan Scratch Cup at Lahinch to see her lead the Scratch Cup circuit for 2014. We wish her all the best over the summer months as she competes in many national and international tournaments and represents our school and herself with pride.'
