LOUTH U-14s proved they can handle the heat as they cruised to a 3-18 to 2-8 victory over Carlow in the Leinster Shield final in Mullinger recently.

In 25C of heat this was a very close game until the last 10 minutes when they pulled clear to win impressively. The Reds also secured the Player of the match award as Aoife Russell took the accolade.

Last weekend the girls and parents travelled to Ventry in Kerry with their mentors Edel Woods, Sonia Gernon and student helper Niamh Laverty to cap a great week. The group stopped off in Tralee on Friday on the way down to play local team Na Gaeill before heading on to Ventry.

On Saturday the team took part in a team building exercise on the local climbing walls in Dingle before heading to O Se's for a meal, finishing off with a trip around Sleigh Head, stopping off at the beach where Ryan's Daughter was filmed.

On Sunday morning they played a local team Corca Dhuibhne, brushing up on their Irish as this local team is from the Gealeacht area.

The county board and management would like to thank the following for sponsoring food for the team P&A Quinn, Bryan Lynch, Smyth Spar Tallanstown, Annaghs Eggs Knockbridge, Joe O'Connell Fruit & Veg and Celtic Water.
