The wet conditions and tricky cross-field wind made life difficult for both sets of forwards and it was 20 minutes before Roche opened the scoring. They managed two further points before the break to go in leading by 0-3 to 0-1.

The decisive score came within ten minutes of the restart as Bernard McConnon scored the only goal of the game to put his side firmly in command.

The Kevins battled hard in the final quarter but Roche remained on top and added further points to secure a deserved win.
