Narrow defeat in camogie final

THE Cooley Camogie Club, the 2012 winners, competed against St. Annes in the 9-a-side final in Dowdallshill on Saturday evening last, June 22.
St. Annes got off to a great start and led throughout the first half, leading at half time by 2-6 to 2-4.
The Cooley girls controlled most of the second half and went two points ahead coming up to the final minutes.
But the Togher side struck late with a goal and a point to pull ahead and win by 3-11 to 3-9.
The Cooley panel was: Karen Kane (Capt), Lisa Maguire, Coirin Rice, Kerrie Ferguson, Eibhlin Rice, Siobhan Maxwell, Siobhan McDonald, Ann Kane, Patricia Marmion, Catherine Page, Eimile Rice, Karen Shields, Roisin Soraghan and Caroline Barry.
The Cooley scorers were: Patricia Marmion 1-3 Siobhan Mc Donald 1-2, Roisin Soraghan 1-0, Catherine Page 0-2, Siobhan Maxwell 0-2.
At half time the Cooley under 8s played St Kevins in a mini-blitz. The Cooley girls taking part were: Chloe and Emma McCarragher, Kelly and Leah Marmion and twins Aoife and Julie Soraghan.
Cooley Kickhams GAA Cul Camp will take place from Monday to Friday, July 8 to 12.

END OF YEAR MASS
The St. Oliver's School, Carlingford, end of school year Mass is in St. Michael's Church this coming Friday morning, June 28.
It commences at 9 a.m. and everyone is welcome!
The Cuchulainn Gaels under 8s competed last Saturday in the all County Blitz at Darver.
The team played three matches and improved with each game they played. It is impossible to name one or two players for special recognition because every player gave it his all.
The team was: Dylan Quinn, Calum O'Hanlon, Patrick Fearon, Colm Keenan, Andrew Cunningham, Sean Brennan, Paul Brennan, Harry McArdle, James McGuinness, Conal Donnelly.

The under 14s are playing at home v St Nicholas on Wednesday evening, June 26. Throw in at 7.30 p.m.
The under 16s are playing away v Lannleire/Naomh Fionbarra on Monday, July 1. Throw in is at 8 p.m.
It was a disappointing beginning to the Ladies 9 a side competition. They were beaten in their first 9 a side league match on Wednesday evening by a single point at home to Clan Na Gael.
Men's training takes place on Friday evenings at 8 p.m.
Carlingford's Indoor Craft and Food Fair is on the first Sunday of every month. Come along and browse through the stalls in St Michael's Hall, Carlingford, from 12 noon until 6 p.m.

The Cooley Kickhams lotto draw took place in the clubrooms at Monksland on Monday night last.
There was a jackpot of €5,800 on offer but this prize was not claimed as no one matched all the four numbers drawn, 2, 4, 14 and 23.
There were two 'match three' winners, Katelyn Murphy c/o Barry's shop, and Connie O'Connor c/o online. They share the second prize of €200.
The next draw takes place on Monday, July 1, for a jackpot of €6,000.
Club Membership is due for renewal. It is €25 per adult and €15 per student/oap.
The Cooley Kickhams Gym is open from 8.30 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday to Friday. The cost is €5 per session, €20 per month or €50 for 3 months.

KICKHAMS LOSE MINOR LEAGUE
Cooley played St. Brides in the under 18 minor league on Monday evening last.
They led at half time by 0-3 to 0-1 but eventually lost to a much stronger Knockbridge side by 1-9 to 0-6. The Cooley team and scorers were; Michael McGlynn, Craig McGuinness, Fiachra Malone, Conor McGuinness, Rowan Quinn, Luke White, James Loughran, Rowan Cull, Emmett Rogan 0-6, Dylan McGarrity, Derek McGrane, Peter Thornton, Emmet McGuigan. OPEN AIR MASS
The open air Mass at the Poill a' Bhui Mass Rock, Ardaghy, Omeath, takes place this evening, Wednesday, June 26, at 7 p.m.
The Mass will be the Votive Mass of The Irish Martyrs and a relic of St. Oliver Plunkett, Bishop and Martyr, will be present for veneration.
The annual assembly of IMPERO (Irish Mental Patients' Educational and Representative Organisation) will take place this coming Saturday, June 15, in The Old Schoolhouse, Bellurgan, Jenkinstown, starting at 2 p.m. The building will be open from 1 p.m.
