ST MOCHTA'S scored a much-needed win when they upset the formbook to defeat St Josephs by ten points in Louth Village.
St Mochtas went into a 0-3 to 0-2 lead after 15 minutes before Ciaran Byrne fired home a great individual goal. However, the Joes responded with a John McGuinness goal to remain very much in the game.
Some well taken scores by both sides resulted in the Mochtas going into the interval with a slender 1-8 to 1-6 lead.
The home side came flying out of the blocks in the second half and added two quick points. Three further points followed before Declan Byrne saw his penalty saved by Robbie Arthur.
The Joes hit back with two points to reduce the gap to 1-13 to 1-8 but that was as good as it got for the visitors as the Mochtas kicked the last five points to record an impressive win.
