THE Louth U16 Hurling Development Squad travelled to Carlow town on Saturday to take part in the annual Carlow Town hurling blitz.
The team played three games losing two and winning one with their sole victory coming in their third game against Ballycahill (Tipperary).
In their first game they lost to Kildare outfit Naas by 4-5 to 0-6 having trailed by 1-4 to 0-2 at half time. The Louth scorers were John Stephenson (0-3) and Paul Giles (0-3).
They also lost their second game to a strong Fingallians side from Dublin by 3-10 to 0-4 after trailing at the break by 3-2 to 0-2. The Louth scorers were Paul Giles (0-3) and Tom Burke (0-1).
They trailed at the break in their third game to Eire Og, Ballycahill by 1-4 to 0-1 before giving a good second half performance to run out winners by 2-7 to 1-5. The next outing for the Reds will be a game against Celbridge (Kildare) on Tuesday July 9 in the opening round of the new Kildare/Meath/Louth U16 Border League.
