The Nicks, with the aid of the breeze, were quick out of the blocks with points from Roy Kierans and Tadgh Gill and an early goal from Gary Shevlin.

Lannleire fought back with two points, one free and one from play, but this was the last of their scoring in the first half. The Nicks midfield and half backs dominated the rest of the half setting up Kierans and Richie Campbell for goals along with Shevlin, Campbell and Stephan Hodgins adding points.

The Dunleer men fought back in the second half but the Nicks kept their distance with points from Craig Donnelly, Declan Heeney and Brian Pentony. A late goal from Robert Moynagh for the visitors was only consolation.
