First-half goals sink Mattock on own turf

O RAGHALLAIGH'S edged out Mattock Rangers in a very entertaining game played in Collon on Sunday afternoon.

The Drogheda side started well with Ruairi Moore finding his range early on with two well-taken points. Mattock's David Reid also had his shooting boots on scoring five points in the opening half.

However, Mattock were dealt a double blow when Ben Rogan stroked home a penalty followed soon after by Bryan Smith finding the back of the net. Those two goals changed the whole complexion of the first half giving the O Raghallaighs a 2-3 to 0-6 lead going in at the break.

David Reid continued to cause problems scoring his sixth and seventh points of the game to get Mattock to within a point of the Drogheda side.

However, Ruairi Moore scored his third point of the day to put the O Raghallaighs two ahead once more and despite David Reid scoring his ninth point of the afternoon, the Drogheda side held on to record the narrowest of victories.
