CLANS remain in the hunt for a top four finish after seeing off bottom of the table Naomh Malachi in what was a comfortable evening for the Dundalk side.

The Clans got off to a flyer scoring a goal in just the third minute when Conall McKeever finished off a well worked team move to open a four-point lead.

The Malachis have improved lately after a difficult start to their league campaign and they were soon back in the game thanks to points from Kevin Rogers and Jason Clarke.

The Clans knew a win was a must if they were to finish in the top four and they managed to keep the Shelagh side at bay with Drew Duffy re-establishing their four point lead.

Both sides traded points for the remainder of the half until Drew Duffy grabbed his second point to send the Clans in five points to the good at half time.

The score at the break was Clans 1-7 Malachis 0-5.
