Dealgan Amateur Boxing Club held a very successful night celebrating their 75th anniversary with a gala dinner show in the Fairways Hotel last Saturday night.

There was a large attendance of over 300 at the dinner which was named in honour of the late Joe Ashmore, a former president of the club.

Special guests on the night included former World Champion Bernard Dunne as well as the club's own European Champion Amy Broadhurst.

The audience was treated to 14 top class bouts of boxing featuring top boxers from the club itself, as well as clubs north and south of the border. Boxers from Dealgan competed in 13 of the bouts, winning all but three.

The Eddie Maguire Shield for best club boxers was presented to Conor Woods and Sean O'Donough. The Joe Ashmore Trophy for best boxer was presented to Amy Broadhurst while three times Irish champion Nicole Agnew won the Willie Moore Shield for best technical boxer.

Anto Donnelly expressed the club's appreciation to all who attended and to all the sponsors who support the club throughout the year and on the night.
