TESCO IRELAND moved to clear a site at the rear of their store at the Long Walk Shopping Centre after The Argus brought to the attention of management at their Dublin headquarters the large amount of rubbish that had accumulated there over the Christmas period.
The waste, which included meat bones, cooked chicken carcasses and paper rubbish, was in an enclosed yard at the rear of the Tesco store and had been there for a number of days.
The Argus contacted a Tesco Ireland spokesperson on Friday and the rubbish was cleared away by that evening.
A spokesperson for Tesco Ireland said: 'It would appear that our store at Long Walk was due to get a waste lift on Tuesday last week but because of the week that was in it, Tuesday being New Year's Day, and the lift did not happen until Friday. The matter has now been resolved'.
