THE ORGANISERS of this year's Taste of Louth which took place in The Marshes Shopping Centre over the weekend are reporting that the event was a huge success.
The event, which showcased locally produced artisan food and craft, was organised as a fundraising event by the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland in conjunction with The Marshes and McArdle Meats, with Martina and Brian Morrow taking charge.
Highlights of the weekend included the young chefs and schools' cupcake competitions and the demonstrations by celebrity chefs Nevin Maguire, Clodagh McKenna and Brian McDermott while the CBOI Strictly Srings entertained the crowds with beautiful music on Saturday.
The feedback from those who took part in the event was very positive while many visitors took the opportunity to do a bit of early Christmas shopping.
The winner of the young chef competition was Claudia Heisse from Drogheda Grammar School while the prize for the best cupcakes went to Cora McBride from St. Vincent's.
