THE SIXTH series of Operation Transformation started on RTE One last Tuesday and will be screened on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Operation Transformation has teamed up with the Irish Sports Council and the Local Sports Partnerships to organise a number of national events.
The Operation Transformation National Walk takes place on Saturday January 19. Louth Local Sports Partnership has organised a walk in Drogheda. The walk starts at 11am leaving form Aura Leisure Centre and follows part of the Ramparts walk. The walk is approximately 4km long. Light refreshments will be served in Drogheda Leisure Park after the walk. Mayor of Drogheda Borough Council Paul Bell will be launching the walk and Irish Heart Foundation trained walking leader Seán McCormack will be leading the walk.
We welcome all ages and abilities along on the day and particularly would like to see families getting involved. The event is ideal for beginners to come out and give it a go.
There will be similar events running around the country culminating in a 5km fun run in the Phoenix Park and Cork City on Saturday 23rd February. Registration for the 5km run opens on January 22.
Louth Local Sports Partnership has also organised a follow on walking programme. For further details contact Valene McMullen on 042-9324356.
