Roads to close to facilite Giro d'Italia

While Louth will have its flags out to welcome the Giro d'Italia on Sunday, May 11, the global cycling event will be causing some disruption for local motorists.
Louth County Council has said there will be a full road closure in place, from 11.30 a.m. to 4 p.m., along the main route. These timings are approximate and will be firmed up nearer the date. The route includes the Armagh Road into Dundalk (R177), the R132 from the Lisdoo Junction through the centre of Dundalk, Clanbrassil Street, Crowe Street, Francis Street, Park Street, Hill Street, Old Dublin Road. Passing through Castlebellingham, Kilsaran, Dunleer,and Monasterboice and into Drogheda, North Road, Georges Street, Bridge of Peace and Old Dublin Road.
During the closure there will be limited locations where it will be possible to cross over the route intermittently and these locations will be advertised in advance of the closure.
