Panto will bridge the generation gap
SPECIAL FOR 'BEAUTY AND THE BEAST'
DUNDALK'S GRANDPARENTS are being offered the perfect Christmas present - a step back in time with their grandchildren.
In an innovative move, Louth's Age-Friendly Initiative have joined forces with the Helix Theatre to create a special package for grandparents to bring their grandchildren to a traditional panto – Beauty and the Beast – at a special price.
' This is a wonderful opportunity for the different generations of a family to have a great time together,' said Catherine McGuigan, Regional Programme Manager of the Age Friendly Counties Programme.
' The Helix have put a lot of work into designing something which is genuinely age friendly. They have appointed a dedicated staff member to look after grandparents and be their point of contact."
' The Helix panto is very familyorientated and incredibly good fun.
'It's a real throwback to a traditional Christmas and one that grandparents would enjoy.'
The Helix is located on the agefriendly campus of Dublin City University and the theatre designed the Grandparents Christmas treat as part of their contribution to this year's European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity Across The Generations.
The offer, which runs until January 13, is open to Grandparents living in the Age-Friendly north-east counties of Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan and Dublin's Fingal.
Starring Voice of Ireland finalist Kyle Kennedy as The Beast, and the lovely Lauren Nevin ( The Tudors, Fair City) as the beautiful Belle, it is guaranteed to tickle audiences funny bones.
The Helix Grandparents offer is available for performances every Thursday at 7.30pm and for Saturday's and Sunday's evening shows.
The price of €17.50 per ticket is a saving of almost €10 on an adult ticket and €4.50 on a child's.
Grandparents tickets can be booked by calling Anne Hughes on 01 700 7131 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
