Our GAA tweeters

Published 02/10/2013 | 05:20

Louth's five TDs are big GAA men. Three of them tweeted on the weekend GAA action and the two non-tweeters are firmly rooted in Louth GAA.

The non-tweeters are Fine Gael's Peter Fitzpatrick, an ex-Louth player and manager and Fianna Fáil's Séamus Kirk, another ex-Louth player.

Both Drogheda TDs, Fergus O'Dowd and Gerald Nash, tweeted to congratulate Newtown Blues on their success in the Louth Senior Football Championship Final, with the former tweeting 'Newtown Blues Louth Champions!' along with a twitpic, and the later 'Congrats to captain, Stephen Moonan and @NewtownBlues on an emphatic County title win'.

Sinn Féin's Gerry Adams was also busy with his Twitter account, tweeting 'Comhghairdeas do Naomh Eoin Cogs & r Niamh. Antrim Intermediate Champs. Yeeehaaa! !'.

It seems you can take the TD out of the parish, but you can't take the parish out of the TD.
