LABOUR Senator Mary Moran has welcomed the confirmation that Minister Ruairi Quinn has retained the level of resource teachers for students with special educational needs to the 2012/13 levels.
'In the face of an unprecedented economic crisis, Minister Ruairi Quinn has been able to retain the level of resource teachers available to students with special educational needs for the last two years when many other areas of education and public service have suffered severe downgrades and cuts. I welcome that the Minister has been able to allocate €1.3bn of the €8bn budget to special education alone.
However, she said she didn't accept that was enough.
'There can never be enough money or resources when it comes to our children - but we do have to recognise that there is a strong commitment to special education within the Labour Party and this Government.
